So I've never done this before and I'm not entirely sure how it works so bear with me. This is my first post about Brett and I'm sad to say that it's coming on the heels of his 4 month birthday. I wanted to start one when he was born but as anyone with a newborn knows, it's hard to get anything done that you set out to do. I'm going to try to do a weekly blog from now on- time will tell :)
For those who don't know, Brett was born on July 2, 2010 at St. Joseph medical center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born weighing 9 lb 5 oz and 19 inches long- he hasn't stopped growing since. I was able to stay home with him for 6 weeks before returning to work. Those were the best/hardest 6 weeks of my life. I tell my friends that everything is more intense- i love him more than i thought was possible and it's harder than i dreamed possible as well. Recovering from a c-section and taking care of a newborn is tough- that's why I'm so thankful that my parents stayed the first week and my mother in law stayed the second. Not to mention my wonderful husband, who has been so supportive throughout my pregnancy and after Brett is born. I feel that you don't truly know love until you see the man you love holding your child- it's a feeling that words can't truly describe. I just kept thinking over and over- God is good, God is good, God is so good. Right from the beginning, Brett liked to eat. He came home from the hospital eating 2oz at a time and is up to 6 oz per feeding now.
The first month of Brett's life brought many visitors to Kansas City, we had visits from both sets of Zach's grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins too. Brett is a big draw and he's got quite the fan club. In August, Brett made his first trip to my hometown of Cape Girardeau. I can't describe what it was like to see him with all my family and friends, especially my brother and grandma-its indescribable. It is my hope that Brett will someday know what a wonderful family he has been born into and how much he is loved.
Yay to blogging! I'm very excited to follow you and your family in your new adventure of parenthood!
