just the two of us

So... Zach went to Iowa for the weekend, leaving on Friday and it was just me and Brett. at first, i was nervous, the responsibility still gets to me at times but then i got to thinking "who else would i rather spend the weekend with?". My friend Julie came over Friday night with her daughter, Daisy, who is just 3 weeks younger than Brett. I wish you all could have seen Brett with Daisy, it was great. Daisy weighs considerably less than Brett and is able to roll over and grab her toes, things that Brett is not able to do just yet and Brett just thought this was hilarious. He has this beautiful belly laugh that just blows me away and it the sweetest music my ears have ever heard, i could listen to it all day. Brett slept through the night and didn't wake up until 6:30 Saturday morning, which was nice, but then he wanted to play all day and normally that's fine but for some reason, I was so tired. Anyway, we had a wonderful Saturday together, playing peek a boo and looking in the mirror. He also LOVES his play mat that Sara let us borrow and spends the majority of his day eating his fingers (i think he is teething). He is such a happy baby and loves to smile and laugh. I seriously fall more in love with him every day. Saturday night my friend Jessica came over and hung out with us. She loves seeing Brett and he likes the attention so it worked out well for both of them :) while Jessica taught me how to crochet, Brett played on his mat and "talked to us". He loves to tell stories and is really finding his voice- and using it :) he is constantly making gurgling sounds and rolls his r's in a way that makes me think maybe i ate too much Mexican when i was pregnant :) Saturday night was great and he slept again until 6:30. Sunday morning he took a nap, which meant i took a nap so that was nice. Zach got home around 2 and we went to Briarcliff to watch the Christmas lights turn on. It is so neat to be able to experience Christmas activities with my two guys. Brett got tired of Briarcliff after a while and we actually missed the turning on of the lights but it was so worth it. Having Zach home and spending time with the two of them made me realize just how blessed i am and how very much i have to be thankful for this thanksgiving. God is GOOD!
